A study recently published in the Journal of the American Medical
Association (JAMA), showed DHEA may help offer protection against
abdominal obesity. The study was conducted by researchers at
Washington University School of Medicine. The participants in the study who showed a decrease in abdominal fat
were taking 50 mg of DHEA for six months. Those in the study taking
a placebo, showed no change in their abdominal fat. In addition, an
oral glucose tolerance test revealed an increase in insulin
sensitivity in the DHEA group as compared to the placebo group. DHEA has also shown to reduce abdominal fat and protect against
insulin resistance in lab animals.*
